Commissioners Open Bids for Village of Versailles North Central Area Waterline Improvements Project

The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday afternoon to discuss bids for the Village of Versailles North Central Area Waterline Improvements project, Reed Road Well Field Transmission Line Phase II, fund advancements, and improving security for the Magistrate’s Court Room and Jail.

Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were present.

The Commissioners heard four bids for the Village of Versailles North Central Area Waterline Improvements project. Tom’s Construction Inc. for $1,295,660, Shinn Brothers Inc. for $1,279,000, PAB Construction for $1,329,820, and Performance Site Development for $1,403,729.52.

The board accepted the bids for review.

The board then approved a letter of recommendation and a notice of award for the Reed Road Well Field Transmission Line Phase II. Access Engineering Solutions LLC reviewed bids and recommended Shinn Brothers Inc.. The notice of award was given to Shinn Brothers Inc. to fill the contract. The Contract price is $1,197,500.

The board also approved a notice to bidders for the Village of Gettysburg Construction of Water Tower Project. The project is constructing a 100,000-gallon elevated water storage tank with an associated extension of a 6-inch waterline to service the storage tank. This replaces Gettysburg’s current water tower.

Bids for this project will be received at the Darke County Commissioners’ office, 520 S. Broadway St., Greenville, until 1 pm local time on October 24, 2023. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 1:30 pm.

The board then approved two fund advances for the Gettysburg School Demolition. The first is resolution (R-303-2023), which advances $5,000 out of the General Fund to cover the KEY funding contract for the preparation.

The second is resolution (R-307-2023), which advances $40,000 from the General Fund to cover the H&H Environmental contract for cleanup and remediation.

Both of these advances will be funded back to the general fund when the revenue is received from the grant.

The board also approved resolution (R-304-2023) for the 2022 CDBG Grant. This is a fund advance of $92,026.82 to cover Key Funding Consulting Services through June 2023 and Finfrock Construction New Madison Washington St. Improvement Project. This advance will be funded back when the revenue is received from the grant.

The board then approved a Construction design and build estimate for the Darke County Common Pleas Magistrate’s Court Room from Sowers Construction LLC.

“This is to help improve security within the Magistrate’s Court Room facility,” Commissioner Aultman said. “This was presented to the board by Judge Fliehman and staff.”

The total for this estimate is $19,300. The board approved a fund advance resolution (R-309-2023) to cover this cost.

The board also approved a change order for Accurate Controls Inc. for additions to the Jail Project. The change order is to add three cameras to the Sheriff’s Office Camera system, a switch installed to power the cameras, and a CAT6 cable run to all camera locations. The quote is $8,631.62.
