DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ January 15, 2026, meeting started at 1:31 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from January 13, 2026.
The Examination and Allowance of bills dated January 16, for the General Fund was $238,474.44, outside General Funds were $1,178,002.80, totaling $1,416,477.24. They were approved.
A resolution authorizing County Electric Aggregation with Palmer Energy, represented by Amy Hoffman of Palmer Energy, was approved.
Two Transfers of Appropriation were next. The Auditor transferred $49,200.00 for professional services for Garst Avenue Government Center infrastructure upgrades, and Ditch Maintenance transferred $6,000.00 to pay salary and benefit reimbursements.
Three Fund Advances for the D.C. Grants Dept. were presented. First, $35,000.00 for First Choice Excavating for 100 W. Weller St. in Ansonia, $22,400.00 for Mikesell Excavating for Cross Street in Palestine, and $6.66 to cover 2025 fourth-quarter postage.
The Sheriff and Solid Waste presented expense requests. The Sheriff’s request was for Chief Deputy Tyler Young to attend a five-day New Detective and New Investigator classes in Columbus, February 16th-20th, for $900.00. Solid Waste’s request was for Krista Fourman Unger to attend a Debris Management Workshop in Columbus on February 2nd for $70.00.
An amendment between the Solid Waste Dept. and the Health Department to accept a five-year agreement instead of the written three-year agreement was accepted.
A notice of award to Shinn Brothers Construction to do the work in Arcanum on South High Street was accepted. The construction also includes Blank Street. The total contract is for $1,519,000.00.
A Soil and Water update from Jared Coppess was next.
