Commissioners authorize Ohio Department of Aging Healthy Aging Grant funds

GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday afternoon. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were present.

The board approved a request for qualification for a professional engineering consultant for the 5-year master plan for the Darke County Airport. They received one set of qualifications from Butler, Fairman, and Suet Inc. 

“They do community assessments, they do facilities assessments, they interview people in the community, and they put together a plan,” Commissioner Matt Aultman said. 

The board then approved a status notification to Butler, Fairman, and Seufert Inc. This is a notification of the award to provide planning services for the Darke County Airport. 

The board approved Resolution (R-99-2024). This is a Fund advance, advancing $10,558.30 to cover Willo Product’s contract for project number 5383. Once the revenue from the Local Jail Capital Project Grant is received, this will be advanced back to the general fund. 

The board also approved Resolution (R-100-2024). This authorizes the obligation of funding received through the Ohio Department of Aging Healthy Aging Grant. A total of $210,370 of funding is being received. $42,075 will go to the Community Action Partnership to provide housing assistance. $42,075 will go to Grace Resurrection and Community Unity to provide food assistance. $21,500 will go to Rest Haven, Brethren’s Home Retirement Community, and Trustwell Living at Oakley Place to purchase and provide laptops and related equipment to County Nursing home facilities. $104,720 will go to the Greenville Transit Service to provide public transportation within the County to residents 60 years of age or older. 

At the end of the meeting, Commissioner Marshall Combs mentioned that they are receiving resumes for the Main Street Greenville Director position. 

“The Main Street Greenville Director position is still open,” Commissioner Marshall Combs said. “We are accepting resumes. We have had several turned in already, so if you are interested, please don’t drag your feet; we are currently looking for resumes for that.” 

Commissioner Matt Aultman discussed the upcoming County Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting with the EMA. This is open to the public. There will be a meeting at 6:30 pm at the Birchwood Training Center. 

Commissioner Aultman also mentioned that the Vietnam War Veteran Day proclamation would take place on March 29. 

“The Vietnam Veterans Day Proclamation at 10 am at the VFW,” Commissioner Aultman said. “It’s their remembrance and memorial for Vietnam Veterans. The DAR and Veterans Association are putting that program on.”

“I just want to wish everyone a joyous and safe Easter holiday,” Commissioner Larry Holmes added.
