DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners held their regular session Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Administration Building. On the agenda were the regular session minutes from last Thursday, which passed unanimously, then the examination and allowance of bills. The vouchers, including any “then and now” certificates in the amount of the General fund was $80,896.42; Outside General funds of $25,353.87, for a total of $160,250.29 were unanimously approved for payment.
Caden Buscher from the Darke County OSU extension office gave an update on what Mercedes McFarland and himself has been keeping them busy this time of year, as a lot of programs and meetings are going on at their office.
First quarter Ditch maintenance expenses were asked for and passed by the commissioners by a fund transfer of $65,999.24.
Next, a fund transfer was requested by the Darke County Grants Dept. for the 2023 LEAD Safe Ohio Grant for the Ida Zeller Palestine property to cover CSL Contracting’s #9 pay app. For $2,750.00. A second transfer was approved for $47.00 for an AIM media ad for the proposal of an environmental assessment. Darke County Vehicle maintenance submitted four old vehicles to be junked, all four were approved.
Resurfacing of roads and pavement contracts worth $1,313,633.50 were accepted and approved for Walls Brothers and $292,413.50 was approved for Aero-Mark Company to do pavement striping this year. Next on the docket was a transfer of appropriations for the Darke County Sheriff for vehicle repair in the total of $250.00. The Darke County grants department got a Federal Reimbursement grant for the 2025 FAA Box Hanger in the amount of $1,044,648, while the county share will be $55,352.00. A fund advance was also added for $1,044,648. Sealed bids for the Box Hanger will be opened on April 10th at 1:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s office.
The Darke County Sheriff, Veterans Administration, Common Pleas Court, and Juvenile courts all asked for expenses to be paid for two mandatory meetings for the Sheriff, two recommended meetings for both Judges, and two mandatory meetings for Veterans services, all were approved. Finally, the 2025 Chamber awards were mentioned for Darke County Young Farmer, the Agriculture Achievement Award, and the Agricultural Advocacy Award and were added to the journal.
The next meeting is Tuesday, the 8th, at 1:00 in the Commissioner’s Office. The public is encouraged to attend.
