GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon. Commissioners Matt Aultman, Marshall Combs, and Larry Holmes were all present.

The Commissioners approved a Notice to Proceed and Agreement with M & T Excavating, LLC for the reconstruction of First, East, Albright, and South Streets in the Village of Arcanum.

This project includes waterline, storm sewer, curb & gutter, sidewalk, and street improvements. The Final Completion of this project is estimated to be done by December 30, 2024. The total Contract Price that was given was an estimated $1,472,158.

“This is a CDBG Critical Infrastructure Grant,” said Aultman. “We’re allowed to have three of them open at a time. We recently closed one, which allowed us to go out and apply for this.”

Under Resolution (R-151-2024), 2023 LEAD Safe Ohio Grant was approved as a new grant to the county. The revenue and appropriation increase was given at a total of $1,284,000.

The Commissioners approved two fund advances. The 2022 Gettysburg Critical Infrastructure Grant advance was to cover Maguire Iron pay application number two for the water tower replacement project, totaling $69,920. The 2023 Gettysburg School Demo Grant advance was to cover the Denlinger invoice for site improvements, totaling $6,350.

Both fund advances will be returned once revenue is received.

“We do have two State FFA Officers,” said Aultman. “Jayden Hicks (VP At Large) from Greenville FFA and Daniell Hartzell (Reporter) from Mississinawa Valley – MVCTC FFA. Dena Wuebker from Versailles was the Golden Owl Winner. She is the top Ag Teacher in the state of Ohio.”

Darke County had several state degree winners and award winners recognized at the 2024 Ohio FFA Convention.

“It’s very rare to get two state officers out of a county,” continued Aultman. “We have three officers out of District Five.”
