Commissioners approve Darke County Broadband Grant amendment

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ July 31, 2025, regular meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Flatter, and Combs present. The Commissioner’s first order of business was the reading of session minutes from Tuesday, the 29th. They were approved. The session proceeded with the examination and allowance of bills for July 29th. Vouchers amounting to $36,118.48 out of the General Fund, and outside funds of $60,845.41 for a total of $96,963.89 were approved for payment.

A Transfer of Appropriations for the Darke County Commissioners and Common Pleas was next. The Commissioners transferred $80,000 to the Sheriff’s office for housing of inmates, and $10,000 for machinery and equipment. The Darke County Common Pleas Court transferred $10,000 for machinery and to the equipment minus $10,000 fund. The Darke County LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Committee) sent a revised copy to be approved for the new members and as Commissioner Aultman as the representation for the Board. The request was approved with Mr. Aultman abstaining.

The Sheriff had two expense requests. One for SORN Compliance training in Grove City, Ohio, for Stacy McMiller on Sept. 4th and 5th for $544.58, and one  for Austin Knight for a Select Rifle Course in London, Ohio on August 5th and 6th for $920.00

An amendment to the State Department of Development and the Commissioners was offered and approved for the Darke County Broadband Grant. The completion date was changed to June 30th, 2026. The work should be completed before then.

The Treasurer asked to advertise for bids for public depositories from October 29th, 2025, through October 29th, 2029. The Commissioners will receive bids until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4th, for public depositories. Designation of Public Depositories will be made on September 25, 2025.

A Proclamation for Family Health’s open house will be presented at the open house next Thursday.
