Commissioners approve board appointments

GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon.

Commissioners Matt Aultman and Marshall Combs were both present. Commissioner Larry Holmes was absent.

Under Resolution (R-426-2024), Examination and Allowance of Bills dated December 3, 2024, were read and approved. The General Fund was $61,274.83; Outside General Funds were $115,955.74; with a Grand Total of $177,230.57. 

Krista Fourman Unger, Darke County Solid Waste Director, presented the Solid Waste Facilities Designation. 

Earlier in November, the district placed an Invitation for Designation in the local newspaper and e-mailed letters to all those facilities that were previously designated by the board. 

The board approved the following facilities as the only facilities authorized to receive solid waste generated within the District for disposal and/or transfer:

Commissioners also approved allowing Krista Fourman Unger, Darke County Solid Waste Director, to prepare and submit the Community and Litter Grant Fund Project Nomination Form to the Ohio EPA for financial assistance.

“I’m asking for a total of $30,000 in the grant,” said Fourman Unger. 

The assistance will be used for various cleanup events including Trash Bash 2025, Hazardous Household Waste 2025, and Tire Day 2025. 

Commissioners approved a Reappointment of a Member for the Board of Darke DD. Mike Boyer will serve a second full term. Each term is a total of four years and you may serve three terms before a required recycle. 

Commissioners approved two Appointments of Members for the Board of Darke DD. Leslie Acton and Tatiania Jay will both serve a full term beginning January 1st, 2025, and ending December 31st, 2028. Both of these individuals have a family member who receives care through Darke DD’s services. 

Commissioners also approved Appointing Board Member – Alexandria Horner to the Darke County Law Library. Horner will be filling the vacancy of James Detling, being one of two appointed members by the Darke County Commissioners. 

“Jim has served a lot of time on the ( Darke County) Law Library. He was a part of the conversion when we went from the new Law Library to the old one and helped lead that group,” said Commissioner Aultman. “We want to thank him for his service.”

Commissioners also approved a Certifcate of Appointment – Vehicle Maintenance Assistant. Kyeran Meade will begin effective December 3rd, 2024. 

Commissioner Combs also shared some information that he received from the Darke County Veterans Service Commission. 

They will be doing a ‘Holiday Hams’ event for all Honorably Discharged Veteran and Unremarried Surviving Spouses. 

Vouchers will be distributed Monday, December 9th & Tuesday, December 10th, 9 am – 3 pm and again on Saturday, December 14th, 10 am – 12 pm at 611 Wagner Avenue in the OSU Room. 

The Darke County Board of Commissioners meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 pm.
