GREENVILLE – The Darke County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon.
Commissioners Marshall Combs and Larry Holmes were both present. Commissioner Aultman was absent due to Farm Bureau engagements.
Under Resolution (R-403-2024), Examination and Allowance of Bills dated for November 12, 2024 were read and approved. The amount of the General Fund was $24,696.33; Outside General Funds were $32,637.76; with a Grand Total of $57,334.09.
Commissioners approved the 2024 County Highway System Mileage Certification. This is an annual requirement that needs to be submitted each year. The total length of county maintained public roads in Darke County was 524.737 miles as of December 31st, 2023.
Under Resolution (R-406-2024), Commissioners approved two Revenue and Appropriation Decreases for the Darke County Sheriff.
The Bulletproof Vest Grant was not received for 2024. The total Revenue Decrease and the total Appropriation Decrease was $42,663.00. The 2022 Attorney General Vest Grant was also not received for 2024. The total Revenue Decrease and the total Appropriation Decrease was $172,066.00.
“The Sheriff shared that the bullet proof vests have about a five year use on them,” explained Commissioner Combs. “They have not reached that as of right now, so in the future they will be applying for these grants.”
Commissioner Holmes shared that Commissioner Combs along with himself will be having a meeting with the City Safety Director and the Director of Greenville Transit on Thursday to look at the operations and sustainability going forward with the countywide transportation.
Commissioner Holmes also mentioned that United Way had previously donated a van to Miami Valley Cap for the purpose of transporting people out of the county for medical purposes. He continued that the van had been located and was looking to be brought into the Greenville Transit Transportation.
“I appreciate Miami Valley Cap on bringing that resource back to the county,” shared Holmes.
Commissioner Combs shared that he had participated in the Veterans Day parade.
“Thank you in appreciation to all the veterans that served past and present,” expressed Combs.
