Commissioners announce Solid Waste Department to accept propane containers

Solid Waste Department to start accepting propane gas bottles and containers beginning Febuary 1, 2026

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ January 22, 2026, regular meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Combs and Flatter present; Commissioner Aultman was absent. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from January 20th.

The Examination and Allowance of bills dated January 20th and the 22nd for the General Fund were $136,781.44, and the Outside General Funds were $247,111.59, totaling $383,893.03. They were approved. 

The Sheriff and the Solid Waste Dept. had the next transfers of Appropriations. The Sheriff transferred $150.00 for a drum cartridge purchase, and Solid Waste for $20.00 for indirect costs.

The Prosecutor presented three expense requests for his office, all mandatory. Rindy Dowler and Jackie Dickmann asked for $2,844.30 to attend the KARPEL annual user group in St. Louis from April 14-16. $2,423.70 was allocated for Jennifer Webb to attend the Essentials of Victim Advocacy in Akron, from May 11th-15th, and $2,305.91 was presented for Christopher Lanese to attend Building Trial Skills in Englewood, California, from February 23rd-27th. All were approved.

Revenue and Appropriations were next. A refund for overpayment for Susan Brown in the Coroner’s office went over the 2025 ICR limit per PERS. The increase amounted to $261.00.

Commissioner Combs informed everyone that the Solid Waste Department would start accepting Propane Gas bottles and containers on Feb. 1st of this year for recycling. Contact Solid Waste at (937) 547-0827 for more information.
