VERSAILLES – Collaborative Creativity is happening at Versailles high school from November through January, students in the Ceramics & Sculpture 1 class partnered with the 1st-period Agriculture Education/FFA Advanced Greenhouse class for a cross-curricular collaboration.

In Part 1, student teams researched, studied, designed, and constructed decorative coiled clay vases inspired by the Victorian and Rococo eras studying the history of Art and floral design. In Part 2, the groups worked together to create floral arrangements using real cut flowers, carefully selecting colors and plant varieties that reflected the historical periods studied.

The project culminated in a display on the cafeteria stage, where students and staff voted on their favorite vase-and-flower combinations. The experience concluded on a joyful note as many mothers of the ceramics students proudly received the finished pieces—beautiful floral bouquets paired with their students’ handmade vases. Over 200 students and staff voted and placing 1st was Ava May, Ceramics and Sculpture 1 and designed her own floral design, placing 2nd was Margaret Schmitmeyer Advanced Greenhouse and Ethan Phlipot-Ceramics and Sculpture 1 and placing 3rd Brooke Keiser who is in Ceramics and Sculpture 1 and Advanced Greenhouse.
