Coach Walton plans to win in Minnesota

GREENVILLE – The 2025 season is very close and approaching soon, and veteran baseball coach Montaous Walton is expecting a good season ahead. Walton is regarded as one of the top recruiters in college baseball. He’s settling in back home in the Midwest and plans to be there for a while.

He has had past success at Cincinnati Christian University recently, helping the program reach the 2019 River States Conference tournament for the first time in school history under then-head coach John Taylor. After that, in 2021 and 2022, Walton was on the coaching staff at Wright State Lake campus and reached the 2021 Small College World Series. He was also the lead recruiter signing Ohio recruits former all-American Andrew Emerson and Nick Hundley, as well as former Versailles star Noah Mckeldowney, to name a few.

That success In Ohio propelled him to head south under head Baseball coach John Bates at Rust College. While at Rust College, Walton was part of a very successful season, advancing to the GCAC conference championship, becoming the 2023 regular season champion, and appearing in the 2023 college world series. He was also instrumental in Signing the talented shortstop and Chicago Native Kyrent Cole that year. Following Rust College, Walton got his first Division I opportunity, spending a stint at Mississippi Valley State University as Director of Baseball Operations under head coach CJ Bilbrey.

Now Walton is in Minneapolis, Minnesota, close to family, and excited about the 2025 season. Minnesota’s school is a very competitive Program, and Walton is eager to win in Minnesota, just as he helped Win in Ohio and Mississippi in the past.
