DARKE COUNTY – March has brought a variety of new events. Individuals interested in maintaining an active lifestyle are encouraged to review the calendar below for programs that may align with their interests. Monthly calendars are also accessible at the center. A single visit can provide valuable information.
Prospective participants are encouraged to take note of the RSVP deadline, as well as the designated date and time for each program or event. Registration may be completed in person at the center, or by contacting Wally at (508) 789-3884 or Mary at (937) 423-2565, either via text message or phone call. Please be advised that certain events require prepayment with your RSVP; failure to submit payment may result in removal from the registration list to accommodate additional participants. For further information regarding the Senior Center or its scheduled events, please contact Wally or Mary using the provided telephone numbers.
Two events have deadlines for RSVP this week: the Solar Butterfly Craft class, RSVP by 3/12 and the Road Trip to Fountain City RSVP by 3/13. More information on both can be found on the Darke County Senior Facebook page or in last week’s article.
A Lunch and Learn program will be hosted by EverHeart Hospice and requires an RSVP by 3/19. And a Senior Soothe Me day is slated for Friday, March 20th from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm. Joe Bush will be doing chair massages and Lori Osterlogh Hagaman will be doing mini foot reflexology. Those interested must RSVP with their payment quickly before all the time slots are filled.
The DC Senior Line Dancing classes will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at Final Bow (116 E Third St, Greenville) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. This session has been relocated as part of Main Street Greenville’s Senior Citizens Day Out initiative. Participants of all experience levels are encouraged to attend, whether they are regular dancers or new to line dancing. Instructor Kevin Glueckert has selected dances suitable for varying skill levels. We look forward to welcoming new participants.
Congratulations to Tammy Eichler for winning a $20 Chamber Bucks gift card at the DC Seniors General Meeting on March 4th. The Greenville Missionary Church, located at 1110 N Broadway, sponsored the gift card and also provided snacks to celebrate March birthdays for those in attendance.

At the meeting, it was noted that membership currently approaches 400 individuals, with the annual fee remaining at $2. Information was provided regarding the upcoming Senior Spring Expo, scheduled for April 10th at the Fairgrounds Community Building. The ongoing Bingo prize drive will continue through March. To enhance the selection of quality gifts for Bingo games, members are encouraged to contribute items; a collection box is available at the Senior Center for these donations.
The next general membership meeting is at the center on Thursday, April 30 at 12:30 pm with a carry-in lunch.
Beginning on Monday, March 23rd, the DC Senior Walking Club will be walking outdoors. The group will continue to meet at the Greenville High School to begin their outdoors walk. The group is looking for optional places to walk. If you have any suggestions or wish to join, please reach Wally at (508) 789-3884.
