GREENVILLE – Former Wright State Lake Campus recruiting coordinator and assistant baseball coach, Montaous Walton has done exceptionally well throughout his coaching career in earning 2023 regular season and conference champions at Mississippi’s Rust College, under head coach John Bates.

“It was a great feeling and a blessing being part of that, especially with that being Coach Bates first Championship ring, he deserved it,” said Coach Walton. “I still have my ring in my case. It was a great feeling. I hope to win more in my career.”

After Rust College, Walton spent a short stint at Division I Mississippi Valley State University under Coach CJ Bilbrey.

Walton will be always be remembered in Ohio as a hard-working recruiter signing talent and helping Wright State Lake Campus reach the 2021 small college world series.

Coach Walton continues his baseball recruitment in the South.

“Everything has been going well,” he said. “I stay focused and busy evaluating talent and breaking down film completing my recruiting notebook for 2024 as well as adding guys for the 2025 recruiting class.

“I make sure I’m recruiting a young man with really good character first and then of course the student making sure he’s on top of his grades and eligible,” Coach Walton stated. “Also, the baseball player, making sure he fits our program and style of play etc. as well as – can he come in and help us?

Now in South Carolina, Coach Walton continues to search for college prospects as he noted. “There is a lot of talent in both the 2024 and 2025 classes.”
