The future is looking a little brighter. Maybe it’s because I know the weather has to get better than it has been in recent weeks.
I will try not to be bad-mouthing the upcoming warmer temperatures, no matter what the temperatures are. Besides, summer is my favorite season of the year. So, I’m guessing I won’t have any complaints.
When we were younger, our summers were spent at swimming and/or camping spots during vacation times, which we enjoyed. Playing softball and sometimes riding horses were other activities.
I am too old for that now, but I have the memories, just like I do about other abilities I no longer have. Hopefully, that will change, but we will see.
Even though I’m not the same me, I try to let my son Jamie get to do what he likes to do when it’s available. ….like karaoke and bingo (and Singo), which we both love, when it’s available. I don’t want him to be unable to attend activities, as I enjoyed going to events when I was younger.
I want him to be happy and have fond memories when he gets older. He has and makes a lot of friends in whatever he does. And I’m thankful for that.
He has been helpful to me in recent weeks, consoling me in the loss of our friend and bringing me something from another room so I don’t have to walk there to get it myself because of the pain in my legs, feet and knees. However, I am trying to get up and move about as much as I can to give him a break. That’s why I am trying to include him in other activities outside the home.
More and more activities will be starting up soon and I know he will want to be there. I will do my best to make sure he gets there, even if I don’t attend. I’ve done my share of attending and writing about hundreds, maybe thousands, of events over the last 50-plus years.
I do miss it, but body parts won’t always allow me to get adjusted to what seems to be my new way of life. Unless a miracle happens.
I hope everyone stays healthy in the days, weeks, months and years to come and enjoy life to the fullest while you can. Life is too short not to do the best you can in any situation.
With that, bring it on, Mother Nature and Father Time.
