GREENVILLE – The Brethren Retirement Community (BRC) hosted its 19th Annual Gala Fundraiser, A Fistful of Hollers! WhoDunnit Murder Mystery Dinner, at Eagles Landing.
“Over those years, we’ve raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to benefit residents from our annual gala,” said BRC President and CEO John Warner. “We appreciate a night out, having the community join us in supporting BRC.”
The sold-out event combined an evening of murder mystery suspense with a delicious dinner served by BRC’s leadership team and employees.
“We have a wonderful leadership team who are very dedicated to their roles as not only employees but servants to the residents who call BRC home,” Warner said. “In addition to our leadership team here tonight, we have a lot of staff members who are donating their time for the cause of helping residents improve and enjoy the quality of life.”
For more than a century, Brethren Retirement Community has been a trusted name in compassionate Christian care for older adults in Darke County. The community continues that tradition through its Continuing Our Legacy Capital Campaign, ensuring its mission endures for generations to come.
“In our tagline, it says ‘Innovative Service, Traditional Values,’” Warner stated. “We always want to remember our Christian values, our Christian heritage. By the grace of God, an organization like ours has been here for over 123 years. That work has been done through thousands of people and continues today. We know and see every day God’s love and grace throughout the hallways, throughout the community, and for that we’re very grateful.”
Since 1902, families have trusted BRC to care for their loved ones with heart and faith.
Looking ahead, one of BRC’s primary goals for 2025 is to acquire a Tovertafel Table—an immersive, interactive game system designed to bring joy, movement, and mental stimulation to residents living with dementia.
“We are also raising money tonight for the resident wish list,” said BRC Vice President and CMO Holly Hill. “Those are extra things the residents will receive.”
Additional wish list items include a patio awning for Mill Ridge Village, restocking the fishing pond, a reaction time tester for therapy, funding for the Activities Christmas Bash, and portable entertainment stations.
“BRC is a great community,” Hill added. “It takes a lot of people to make an organization this size run, and it really is a family. People come together for events like this and support our mission and what we do every day. Very heartwarming.”
