DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ regular March 19, 2026, meeting started at 1:30 p.m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs, and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from March 17th.
The Examination and Allowance of bills dated March 19th were presented. The General Fund amount was $34,321.04, and the Outside General Funds were $657,389.31, for a total of $691,710.35. They were approved.
Sealed bids were taken for Village of New Weston Street Improvements for 2026. Two bidders, Walls Bros. and Wagner Paving, submitted bids. The bids were accepted and will be reviewed for compliance with the specifications. The award for the winning bid will be announced later.
Two Transfers of Appropriations were presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and by the Darke County Juvenile/Probation Dept. The Prosecutor transferred $3,000.00 for prosecutor training, and Juvenile/Probate transferred $5,000.00 for term vacation payout. Both were approved.
Exempted use of Vehicles for the Darke County Animal Shelter employees was presented next. The Warden and his Deputies, being no more than 5 miles from the County Line, were approved to take their vehicles home with them so they can respond to incidents in a timely manner. It was approved.
A Fund advance for Darke County Grants for $325.00 to cover the Turn-Key Contract for Post Asbestos at 3383 Weaver Ft. Jefferson Road was approved.
An Employer Statement for a group rating plan with the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation for payroll period 1/1/2027 to 12/31/2027 was up next on the agenda. The County is under the CCAO Group rating plan, and this will help achieve lower workers’ compensation rates for the group. It was approved.
The Darke County Prosecutor presented two expense requests. James Bennett will be attending the OPAA Spring Training in Lewis Center Ohio, April 23rd-24th at a cost of $715.12. Debra Quigley will be attending the NDAA Forensic Evidence conference in Colorado Springs, Co., September 1st-3rd. Total cost for the event will be $2,981.17. They were approved.
