GREENVILLE – Darke County Parks completed its second annual Bash at Bish, with a large attendance at the Saturday event in Greenville.

The day was packed with free outdoor fun at Darke County Park’s Bish Discovery Center and Alice Bish Park, with various activities, including tree climbing, paddling, archery, yard games, and more.

The event was planned before COVID hit and was pushed back to the first Annual Bash at Bish, which took place last year.

“Last year was our first year,” said Megan Hammaker, Special Events Coordinator. “I started booking vendors and the BMX Stunt Crew close to a year ago so it takes a lot of planning ahead.”

Live music featuring Authorized Personnel, Camarillo Band, and Noah Black entertained guests throughout the day, and Dialed Action BMX performed choreographed aerial and ground stunts, including back flips, 360 spins, and much more.

“BMX is very fun to watch, and after the kids watch it, they go out to Mike’s Bikes in the loop in the field, and they get their helmets on and do the ramps and the trail. They watched BMX do the flips, which definitely inspired them to do the ramps.”

The day’s event followed a week of 90-plus temperatures, but extreme heat did not keep guests away.

“The heat was the only thing I was concerned about, but we do have a little bit of a breeze today, and it doesn’t feel quite as humid as it has been the last few days,” Hammaker noted. “We had people showing up at 11:30 a.m.”

Hammaker thanked the many sponsors who supported the event.

“Thanks to our two Presenting Sponsors, Weaver Eggs and AUW Local 2413, as well as all our other sponsors,” said Hammaker. “A huge shout out to the VFW and the American Legion for letting us use their parking areas. Thanks to all the staff here and all the volunteers who are out in the heat helping put the event on – a huge thank you to all of them.”
