“We had a solid outing tonight,” said Arcanum veteran coach, Randy Baker. “We had a good response from the other night – we didn’t play very well the other night. Good senior leadership tonight.”

Arcanum jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first-inning of play where the score would stand after two complete.

“We had some timely hits early on which was huge,” Baker said. “Coming out and getting ahead of them right off the bat was good for us. We had back-to-back leadoff hits so that was nice to see Sharp and Kearney come out and get us going.”

Both teams plated single runs in the third-inning for a 5-1 lead before the Trojans broke the game open in the fourth plating 3-runs to lead 8-1 after four-innings of play.

The teams went scoreless in the fifth with each adding a run in the sixth-inning giving Arcanum and 9-2 advantage with 1-innning to play.

“Great double play and then there in the sixth inning, ball hit up the middle and they (Trail) have a little rally going on and Kessler makes a great play and throws it back to Sharp,” noted Baker. “Those two played really good tonight. Very proud of our defense.”

Caden Thompson picked up the win for Arcanum throwing 5.1 innings, allowing 1-earned run, 3-hits, 3 -walks while striking out two. Regan Christ pitched 1.2 innings in relief allowing no earned runs, no hits and no walks while striking out three.
