ARCANUM – The Arcanum Lady Trojans defeated the Tri-Village Lady Patriots to stay perfect on the season in WOAC play with a 6-0 record.
“This year has been wonderful,” said Arcanum coach Jacie Holman. “These seniors are girls that I have had since I started coaching. I’ve had them as freshmen, I think that makes a difference.”

“My coaching staff is amazing,” Holman continued. “I can look at them at any moment, and they are giving me two or three different ideas that I might not be seeing. It’s a great year, and it’s just getting started. I think we have a long tournament run ahead of us and hopefully, we win the WOAC this week.”
The Lady Trojans jumped out to a 4-1 first-set lead, but Tri-Village evened the score at 13-13 and 15-15. Arcanum pushed back with a 10-3 run, taking the first set by a 25-18 score.
Set No. 2 saw Arcanum grab a 17-10 advantage on their way to a 25-18 win and lead 2-0 on what looked like an easy night for the Lady Trojans.

Arcanum doubled up on Tri-Village 12-6 to open third set play, only to have the home-standing Lady Patriots come from behind to score a 25-23 win, sending the match to a fourth set.
“I told the girls they should never get too comfortable with Tri-Village, and unfortunately, that is what happened in the third set,” said Holman. “We did not come out and play our game … we started playing our game and then we got too comfortable. Tri-Village took that opportunity and used it against us; however, I made it clear to the girls between the third and fourth set that we are done, we are going to send a message, and I think the message was sent.”

The Tri-Village win woke up the “sleeping giant” with the Lady Trojans bolting out to a 23-5 fourth set lead on their way to a 25-6 victory, and brought the night to a close with Arcanum winning 3-1.
“We talk all the time about our momentum, our momentum is key, and when we have the momentum, there is no stopping us,” said Coach Holman. “We had aggressive serves, we had to get them out of system that fourth set, and then they just gave us a free ball back and we put the ball away.”

“It’s a great year, and it’s just getting started,” Holman added. “I think we have a long tournament run ahead of us and hopefully, we win the WOAC this week.”
With the win, Arcanum improves to 10-2 (6-0) while Tri-Village falls to 6-5 (3-3) on the season.
