Arcanum Public Library upcoming events

ARCANUM – At the Arcanum Public Library, we are in full swing of our Summer Reading Program: Color Our World. During the month of June, we have been able to host The Guitar Man, Blake Bailey Productions, Dave Fierst, and the Darke County Parks Department. We’ve been excited to share our many wonderful prizes with registered patrons as they have turned in log sheets.

We are looking forward to the month of July and all our exciting events ahead. During the week of July 4th, we will have no programs. On July 4th, the Arcanum Public Library will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Final Bow Center for Children’s Performing Arts will continue our dance series at the Library on July 8th, 15th, and 22nd at 10 am. Each week is a different style of dance to learn. Please sign up at the front desk to register.

The last of the Storytimes for the Summer Reading Program will be July 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st at 10 am.

Special Craft times for the month of July are July 15th, 1:00 pm- Band Bracelets, July 24th from 5:30-7:00 pm Partner Canvas Painting: Summer Scenes, and July 28th, 6:00-7:00 pm Canvas Bag Painting. To join our craft times, please contact the front desk to sign up, as space is limited.

There will be a movie matinee to beat the heat on Thursday, July 10th at 1 pm, of the showing of “Harold and the Purple Crayon.”

Hatcher’s Hatchlings will be hosting a program on our front lawn on July 14th at 6:00 pm. Please bring a blanket or chairs to sit on the lawn. If there is rain, we will move the program inside. We’re delighted to host them again!

Lisa Crutchfield of the St. Paris Library will be joining us again on Friday, July 25th at 10:00 am for a Music Fun Program for children. She brings extra instruments and encourages dancing and movement with the music.

July 23rd from 5:30-7:00 pm, we are hosting a Meet the Artist Night. We are hoping this will be an opportunity for local artists to come in and display some of their projects and connect with those in the community to learn more about the mediums they use and support and connect with local artists. If you are a local artist interested in a small display table spot, please call the front desk to see if space is still available to join us. We are hoping this is a great way for the community to support and learn more about our local artists.
Lastly, we will wrap up our Summer Reading Program on Saturday, August 2nd, from 10 am-12 pm for our end of Summer Reading Program Party. Weather permitting, there will be games on the front lawn, along with popcorn, crafts, and prize drawings. We hope you can join us!

If you have any questions or need more information, please call (937)692-8484 to reach the front desk.

We are excited to wrap up our 2025 Summer Reading Program with the community this month and are grateful for all the community participation from patrons registering for the program, as well as the many local area business donations helping make the special programs and prizes available to our patrons. We hope to see you throughout the month of July at the Arcanum Public Library!
