“It’s a relief to come out and get the results we want,” said Arcanum coach, Abbey Moore. “We’re working hard every day and it’s nice to be able to come out and get on the right side of a ballgame.”

Bradford entered the game coming off two straight wins while Arcanum was coming off a win over National Trail and a tough loss to the Versailles Lady Tigers.

“We have been playing really well,” said Bradford coach, John Siedling. “Against Preble down eight at half, against Trail down seven at half – collectively we have to be on board no matter what the game is we’re never out of it, even at the half of this one.”

“We came in, we were focused and they knew what they needed to do on the floor,” Moore said.

The Lady Trojans bolted out to a 28-3 score after one quarter of play led by sophomore Caroline Long’s eight points and seven points from freshman Clair Hein including a 3-pointer.

Period No. 2 went to Arcanum 18-5 with six Lady Trojans getting in the scorebook paced by five Ashlyn Miller points including a triple sending the teams to the break with Arcanum leading 46-8 and putting a running clock in play to start the second half.

“We talked at halftime about keeping our focus and not going out and turning the ball over and not getting lazy on defense,” Coach Moore said of staying focused with a large halftime lead. “It’s difficult getting that running clock, but we have to learn from it and you have to learn how to handle yourself in those situations.”

Arcanum Coach Abbey Moore mingled starters and bench players in third-period play taking the quarter 7-5 for a 53-13 score after three complete. Bradford freshman Vivian Harleman drilled her second triple of the night for the Lady Railroaders.

“She’s a shooter,” Coach Siedling said of Harleman. “She does a lot of other things well, she’s also good defensively, she knows how to back cut, she has a really good feel for the game, and as long as she can keep her confidence up the sky is the limit for her.”

Moore continued to keep the game respectable playing her bench the entire fourth quarter with the teams playing to a 6-6 standoff. Arcanum freshman Madison Schwartz accounted for Arcanum’s fourth-quarter points knocking down two 3-pointers

“It’s great to get those girls the experience they need,” Moore stated. “I see us continuing to go down that route here at the end of the season. Faith (Wooten) came in and got some minutes tonight. This is her first game back from an ankle injury so it was good to get her some playing time to get back in the groove. We had some young ones on the floor at the end of the game and they did a great job.”

“We have to start fixing things because we beat ourselves tonight with a lot of our passes that went astray and missed shots and things we usually are capable of doing,” said Siedling. “We’re young – growing pains but the trajectory where we can be is good, so as long as we take it one game at a time, prep for the next one and stay true to our work I think we’ll be fine.”

Long led Arcanum and all scorers with a game-high 12 points. Bradford freshman Vivian Harleman paced the Lady Roaders with 10 points including two 3-pointers.

With the win, Arcanum improves to 10-5 (5-2) while Bradford drops to 3-12 (3-5).
