“I didn’t get to coach them very much but I do know most of them personally outside of the sport, and that’s what makes it tough as a coach,” said first-year coach, Lydia Schlarman. “It’s not that they’re graduating, it’s that you don’t get to coach them again.”

“Pretty much anything I threw at them trying to teach them something different than what they were used to doing in the past few years they were all very willing to do that for me,” Schlarman said of her seniors. “I couldn’t thank them enough for that.”

Coach Schlarman is appreciative of the cooperation she received from her seniors as a first-year varsity coach.

“It definitely could have worked against me but it worked in my favor this year just knowing most of them outside of the school,” said Coach Schlarman. “I think that gave me the respect that I needed from them to make a good season.”

Coach Schlarman is pleased with the Lady Tigers’ program and looks forward to next season.

“We have a group of six juniors coming up so that will be a big senior class again and I look forward to coaching them,” Schlarman noted. “We lose a lot of height with these seniors leaving so I think we just have to adjust to that.”
