
TROY – WOAC Boys track teams competed in the OHSAA DIII Region 12 meet in Troy, Ohio and the Ansonia Boys Track team came away with their first ever Regional Team Championship.
The Tigers knocked Marion Local off the perch as they were looking to add a third straight regional championship. Ansonia scored 68 points, 10 more than 2nd-place Marion Local.
The Newton Indians finished in 9th place with 24 points, Tri-Village was 22nd with 10 points, National Trail was 34th, Twin Valley South was 35th, and Dixie was 41st.
Ansonia also led the way with two Individual Regional Championships, both by Bennett Lehman in the 3200m and 1600m runs. In total, the Tigers will compete in nine events at the state meet.
Newton will compete in three events and Tri-Village two in DIII. In DII Preble Shawnee has on individual Cooper Shrout of Preble Shawnee competing in two events.

Congratulations to all the WOAC Athletes who qualified for state this year. State Track competition will start on Friday June 6th and conclude on Saturday June 7th and is at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus at The Ohio State University.
