Winner’s record-setting 88th pin came in the night's opening match with the National Trail

WEST MILTON – On a cold and snowy night, the Greenville Senior High School varsity wrestling team had a record-breaking evening in a Tuesday night non-conference dual match at Milton-Union. Greenville earned two team wins, with Andrew Winner setting the Greenville all-time career record for most pins.

Winner’s record-setting 88th pin came in the night’s opening match with the National Trail Blazers and recorded his 89th pin versus the Milton-Union Bulldogs.

Wrestling at the 285-pound class, Winner passed Justin Fletcher’s record of 87 career pins set in 2007.

Greenville earned the non-conference dual meet, scoring 51 points to National Trail’s 24 points, and Milton-Union finished with 22 points.

Greenville wrestlers were the aggressors all evening, scoring 17 takedowns to nine for the opponents. The Green Wave tallied 11 pins to the opponent’s four pins.

Following the match, Greenville coach David Guillozet was proud of his team, stating, “They worked hard at practice, and it showed on the mat.”
