DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Seniors at Birchwood Senior Center have activities to keep seniors 55+ as busy as they want. Although the great Darke County fair will be going on from the 15th to the 23rd, the senior center will remain open for those interested in Refit® on Monday, game day on Tuesday, line dancing and craft day on Thursday.
Craft day features rock painting beginning at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 21st. This is an opportunity to learn rock painting and craft your own design. The class will be presented by Pam Idle of JAG Healthcare of Union city. A short presentation will follow. It’s not too late to register for this free crafting class by contacting Wally at (508) 789-3884 or Mary at (937) 423-2565 but call or text by 8/14.
The first Alzheimer’s Support Group Café Series; this week’s planned event has been canceled. Monthly support group offerings will be held on the third Wednesday evening of every month, beginning in September.
The Support Group Café will be facilitated by trained individuals and designed to support, assist, and educate. This can be a valuable resource for those caregivers, family, friends, and others challenged with the various stages of Alzheimer’s or Dementia. Spread the news to others, there is help and no one needs to go it alone.
Just a reminder. Line Dancing is now offered for a total of three hours, with beginner instruction from noon – 1 pm and intermediate instruction from 1 – 3 pm. The donation remains at $5 for members.
