Abel Jay James, infant son of Austin and Amanda (Muhlenkamp) James of Versailles, Ohio went to be with the Lord Thursday August 13, 2026, at 9:29PM at the DuPont Hospital Fort Wayne, Indiana. In addition to his parents, Abel is survived by his sister Evelyn and brother Clyde James. Also survived by maternal grandfather Thomas (Tom) Muhlenkamp of Fort Recovery; paternal grandparents Kent & Lynn (Slyder) James of Ansonia; paternal great-grandmothers Anna May James and Shirley Slyder. Aunts and Uncles Beth and Aaron Kahlig, Sam and Sarah Muhlenkamp, Ethan and Gracie Muhlenkamp and Brandon James. As well as several cousins and great aunts and uncles.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Doris A (Gehret) Muhlenkamp, who we know is rocking him in heaven. Great
Grandparents: Donald and Dorothy Muhlenkamp, Paul and Bernice Gehret, Harold James, and Donald Slyder.
In the words of Saint Zelie Martin: “Besides, they are not lost to me forever; life is short and filled with crosses, and we shall find them again in Heaven”. We find comfort in knowing that Abel is now in the loving arms of Jesus, free from all pain and sorrow. We trust in God’s promise of eternal life and believe that our little angel has gone before us to heaven, where we will one day be reunited.
Austin and Amanda would like to thank the midwives and doctors of Fertility and Midwifery Care Center, LLC of Fort Wayne and the nurses and staff at Dupont Hospital for their excellent care and genuine kindness during this time.
Private graveside services will be held in Ansonia Cemetery Ansonia, Ohio with Father Andrew Hess officiating.
