DARKE COUNTY — Ohio Auditor Keith Faber emphasized public safety, government accountability and his support from law enforcement during remarks at the recent Darke County Republican Hog Roast.
Faber, the Republican nominee for Ohio attorney general in the Nov. 3 general election, told those attending that his campaign centers on protecting families and defending Ohioans.
“I’m running to be your attorney general because we need an attorney general who’s going to keep your family safe,” Faber said.

Faber highlighted endorsements from law enforcement organizations, county sheriffs and prosecutors, saying their support reflects confidence in his ability to serve as the state’s chief legal officer.
He said 87% of Ohio’s county sheriffs, including Darke County’s sheriff, have endorsed his candidacy. He also said a majority of Ohio’s county prosecutors, including Darke County’s prosecutor, have supported him.
“Why is that important? Because they know who will protect you,” Faber said. “They know who will fight for Ohio.”

Among the organizations backing Faber is the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, which announced its endorsement of him for attorney general in July.
Faber pointed to his work as state auditor as evidence of his commitment to holding public officials accountable and protecting taxpayer money.
He said investigations conducted with local prosecutors and investigators have led to convictions of more than 172 public officials and politicians for misconduct.
At the same time, Faber said, his office has identified more than $12 billion in waste, fraud and abuse.
“So when you hear about the fraud going on in government, it’s real,” he said. “It happens not just in Minnesota, but here in Ohio. And we’re calling it out. We’re trying to stop it.”

Faber said his experience leading a large state agency and prosecuting criminal cases has prepared him for the attorney general’s office.
“This run for attorney general is really about whether we’re going to do what’s necessary to defend the Constitution, to defend Ohioans and keep your community safe,” he said. “That’s what this race is about.”
Faber also reflected on his connection to Darke County through his service in the Ohio House, Ohio Senate, and the state auditor’s office.
“I have been honored to represent Darke County my entire political career as your state representative and your state senator, and now as your state auditor,” he said.

With the election approaching, Faber urged Republicans to vote and support candidates throughout the ballot, including those seeking local offices.
“This election comes down to one very simple question: Are you going to show up, and are Republicans going to show up to win this election from the top of the ticket all the way to the bottom of the ticket in your local races?” Faber said.
He expressed confidence that Darke County Republicans would respond.
“I believe that’s going to happen in Darke County,” Faber said. “Look at this crowd.”
