Mike Pinney, age 78, a longtime member of the community and devoted classic car enthusiast, passed away on September 27, 2026.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Lila Pinney.
Mike was a 1966 graduate of Mississinawa Valley High School. Following graduation, he began a successful career in real estate and construction, building numerous homes throughout Darke, Randolph, Mercer, and surrounding counties. He owned and operated Mike Pinney Construction for many years before retiring in 2007.
Mike had a true passion for classic cars and trucks. He was always on the lookout for a low-mileage “barn find” and took great pride in restoring and preserving the vehicles he collected. Many of his beloved classics went on to receive awards at both local and national car shows. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and appreciation for these beautiful pieces of automotive history were a special part of who he was.
Mike also enjoyed traveling and taking trips to casinos.
At Mike’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Darke County Foundation or Randolph County Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
Mike will be missed by many.
