GREENVILLE — Greenville High School’s senior class capped four years of homecoming participation by winning its fourth consecutive Spirit Award, completing a sweep that began when the students were freshmen.
Presented each year on homecoming night, the award went to a class that also won as freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
For 2026 homecoming queen Cloe Shuttleworth, the streak reflects her classmates’ willingness to get involved.
“I think what makes our class win is that we have the most participation,” Shuttleworth said. “We have the most spirit. We always win the dress-up days, and that just means there are the most kids involved.”

That participation, she said, is what makes the senior class special.
“I think that that is what’s special about our class — that everybody’s involved,” Shuttleworth said.
Student Council adviser Kimberly Blumenstock said the fourth consecutive win reflects the students’ effort.

“I’m super proud of them,” Blumenstock said. “They’ve done very well.”
Blumenstock called the accomplishment a “four-peat” and said the seniors’ success extends beyond homecoming activities to academics and sports.
“They work really hard,” she said. “They’re all friends. They all get along. It’s a great group.”

Shuttleworth said the class also earns sportsmanship points by helping other students during homecoming week, including assisting with cleanup and explaining activities associated with the Spirit Trophy.
“We always get points for being nice to others,” she said.
Blumenstock described the seniors as good leaders, reflecting Student Council’s objective to provide leadership through service to the school system and community. The organization seeks to involve as many Greenville High School students as possible in activities throughout the school year.

Shuttleworth believes the determination her classmates have shown will serve them beyond graduation.
“I think just our tenacity in the way we work through everything, it’ll carry us through life,” she said.
For Blumenstock, the seniors will leave behind more than a four-year winning streak.
“They will definitely be missed,” she said. “One of my favorite classes for sure.”
