DARKE COUNTY – A relatively recent addition to the Darke County Seniors’ calendar of events is the “Mystery Lunch.”
To date, the group has enjoyed two delicious meals, one at Beanz Buttercream Bakery and Eatery of Greenville and the other at the Whistle Stop in Ansonia.
Organized by Marian Eley, these mystery lunches always leave participants happily chatting afterward. The food is always delicious, the hospitality gracious and the experience most gratifying.
True to its name, the lunch destination remains a mystery until participants arrive at the Senior Center, where they carpool to the restaurant. At the Whistle Stop, everyone was captivated by Chew Choo, the robot that delivered meals to their tables. Watching it navigate through the restaurant was especially enjoyable.
The next mystery lunch is held this Friday, September 25th at 11:30 am and is limited to a total of 30 people who must RSVP asap by texting/calling 937/794-2556. The menu options range from $10-20. The clues, which have been listed on Facebook and at the Senior Center are as follows: 1). In a historical district 2). You can eat off the menu 3). Great baby back ribs, brisket, pizza, or pulled chicken 4). First Responders love this place.

Description: An informal program of Folk and Traditional music performed on autoharp, mountain, and hammered dulcimer, banjo, and mandolin. Come relax and enjoy the entertainment by fellow senior musicians.

Description: Tribute Funeral Home will be here to share about pre-planning funeral arrangements. They will explain the benefits of making decisions ahead of time, easing stress for family members. They will also discuss ways to prepare financially.

Description: A fun night of cards and board games. Open to Seniors and their family and friends aged 16 or older. This month will be game and card night! We will be getting to know you better and talking about what games you like. Join us for a fun night! Card games: Euchre- 4 to 6 handed. Board Games include Mahjong- American (with cards), Mahjong-Chinese (without cards), Kings in the Corner, Mexican Train (we need help with teaching), and Hand & Foot (need help with teaching). We are open for any game you’d like to play, just come with a teaching spirit. Bring your friends. Snacks provided.

Description: Improve your wellness with a fifteen-minute session from one of these providers. Call early to obtain your desired appointment time.
Joe Bush offers chair massage to reduce stress by lowering cortisol levels and promoting a sense of calm. Chair massage also alleviates physical tension in the neck, shoulders, and back, which helps relieve muscle pain and improve circulation.
Lori Osterloh Hagaman offers foot reflexology. Foot reflexology is a natural practice based on the idea that specific points on the feet correspond to different organs and systems of the body. By applying pressure to these points, reflexology helps improve circulation, reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support overall balance and well-being. Many people find it to be a soothing way to enhance both physical and emotional health.
