Seniors can stay active through the DC Senior Center

DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Senior Center board thanks everyone who purchased mums for our fundraiser and all who volunteered with fundraising efforts, staffed the fair tent, and helped at other summer events. The mums will be available to pick up between 3 – 6 pm on Tuesday, September 15th. Learn more about the proper planting time and other perennials by attending the upcoming “Perennial Flower Swap”.

Description: Gardeners are welcome to bring divided perennials, starts, and other plants to trade. Now is a great time to divide lilies, hostas, daisies, bulbs, and more. Please remove any bugs, label each plant, and wrap it in paper or a bag. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in choosing something new to start in their garden.

Description: Oakley Place will provide everyone in attendance with a free meal while they share information about their establishment.

RSVP by 9/18 to join in the Mystery Lunch on Friday, September 25th. Meet at the Darke County Senior Center at 11:30 am and we will carpool to the “Mystery Lunch” destination. Clues for this location are:
1. In a historical district
2. You can eat off the menu
3. Great baby back ribs, brisket, pizza, or pulled chicken
4. First Responders love this place.

The menu options range from $10-20. The sign up will be limited to 30 so sign up early at the center or by text/calling (937) 794-2556.

Description: We often hear that we should eat more vegetables, but it is easy to run out of ideas or get stuck eating the same ones. Learn fresh ways to prepare a variety of vegetables and leave with new ideas to try at home.

RSVP by 9/21 to take Art with Bree. This is a reoccurring event that takes place the last Monday of each month from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Each month will be something different, but it will always be something that sparks that artistic ability that you may not even know that you have. The cost will always be $10 and prepay as well as RSVP will be one week prior to the event.

Description: This will be a lighthearted beginner friendly art session. No prior classes are required. Participants will learn the broken painting technique, as well as a refresher on tinting and washing colors to create acrylic Bokeh Fireflies on an 8 x 10 canvas. All materials are included.
