I hope this Newsletter finds you well. Darke County has a week of nice weather for the fair, despite some light rains at parts of the county (https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?OH. The crops in the fields continue to progress, and harvest season is just around the corner. Be sure to watch out for farm equipment on the roads as harvest draws nearer.
I hope everybody enjoyed their time at the Great Darke County Fair! I enjoyed seeing many of you there, and was grateful for the outcome of our Cultivating our Futures Program. If you have any ideas or feedback for this program in the future, be sure to reach out and let me know. Congratulations to all those who achieved success and recognition at the fair as well!
If you’re interested in having some garden discussion as many of our plants are being harvested, stop in at the next Darke County Garden Roundtable. Our next session will be held at the OSU Extension Office September 30th at 6:00 p.m., where we will discuss Common Natural Plants and our Plant of the Month will be Pumpkins.
As fall approaches, I look forward to discussing Pumpkins at Worch Library. If this is a topic you would like to learn more about, I hope to see you there on September 2th at 6:00 p.m.
Farm Science Review will also be here before you know it; make sure to grab some tickets ahead of time to save yourself some money. FSR this year is from September 22nd to September 24th. Tickets are $10.00 before September 21st, and $15.00 after. If you’re interested in purchasing tickets, stop in at the office or reach out to me.
The next Darke County Ag Breakfast will be Friday, September 18th at 7:30 a.m. at Jack’s Cabin in Greenville.
