DARKE COUNTY – The Darke County Commissioners’ regular August 27, 2026 meeting started at 1:30 p. m. with Commissioners Aultman, Combs and Flatter present. The Commissioners then approved the minutes from August 25th.
The examination and allowance of bills were presented and approved. The vouchers for August 27 were: General fund $118,368.49; outside General funds $79,022.63; for a total of $197,391.12.
Three departments had transfers of appropriations. The Prosecutor’s office transferred $ 2,000.00 to cover the cost of the requested transcripts; the Commissioners transferred $18,000.00 to pay electric invoices at the Wagner Ave. facility. Finally, Juvenile/Probate transferred $ 9,888.00 for the bailiff’s salary. All were approved.
A Rescission of Resolution between the Commissioners and William Marker on a contract operator agreement was presented. Both parties agreed to rescind the agreement.
Brent Fourman will be the Chief Building Officer for the Darke County Building Regulations Dept. The appointment is effective on August 31st.
A change order for the Village of New Weston for the 2026 Street improvements between the Grants Dept. and Wagner Paving was approved. $655.00 was removed from the original contract, reducing the new cost to $87,380.50.
The Commissioners reinstated a 2014 Ford Focus into the county inventory, as Vehicle Maintenance manager Tom Stevenson said it could be of further use to the County. It was approved.
The Commissioners approved a measure to apply, accept, and enter into the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) for the planning, design, and/or construction of wastewater facilities.
Expense requests were the last part of the agenda. Attending the OCSPA Fall Conference for JFS on October 18-20 in Columbus will be Rhonda McKinniss and Judy Longnecker. The request is for $2,150.00. The second request was for Carla Allen to attend the same conference on a different start date, October 19-20. Her request was for $785.00. The Prosecutor’s office is sending Rindy M. Dowler and Jackie D. Dickmann to the OPAA Administrative Professionals training on October 15th, in Dublin, Ohio. The total cost is $1,124.84. Finally, adult probation is sending Kelsey Monnin to the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office in Batavia, Ohio, on September 1st for Carey Guide Training at a cost of $70.00. All requests were approved.
