GREENVILLE — The Greenville Fire Department has welcomed a new firefighter to its ranks with the hiring of Quentin Grilliot, a 2025 Versailles High School graduate who began his firefighting career as a volunteer.
Greenville Mayor Jeff Whitaker welcomed Grilliot to the city and congratulated him on beginning his career with the department.
“Today, we want to congratulate Quentin Grilliot on becoming one of our new firefighters, and we welcome you to the city of Greenville and your willingness to serve our city,” Whitaker said.

Grilliot, who is from North Star, said his interest in firefighting began while he was still attending Versailles High School.
“My sophomore year of high school, I started entertaining it,” Grilliot said of becoming a firefighter.
That interest led him to join the North Star Volunteer Fire Department in 2024. The experience convinced him firefighting was more than something he wanted to do as a volunteer.
“I joined the volunteer department, and I just wanted to do more,” Grilliot said.
After graduating from Versailles in 2025, Grilliot continued working toward a career in firefighting. He earned his fire certifications through Sinclair Community College and is continuing his education in emergency medical services.
“I got my fire certifications from Sinclair, and I’m pursuing my EMT from Edison,” Grilliot said.

Whitaker said Grilliot has already demonstrated qualities that should serve him well as a member of the Greenville Fire Department.
“I want to welcome Quentin Grilliot to our staff of firefighters,” Whitaker said. “I know he’s going to do a great job for the city. He is very intelligent, and he’s willing to learn and be trained.”
Greenville Fire Chief Russell Thompson said Grilliot’s hiring fills the final opening the department planned to address this year.
“This is our last vacancy that we want to fill this year,” Thompson said. “I have a great staff.”
For Grilliot, the position represents the next step in a career path that began with an interest during high school, grew through his volunteer service in North Star and now gives him the opportunity to serve the Greenville community as a professional firefighter.
