TROY – Troy’s Water Treatment plant is looking for voluntary participants for the Lead and Copper Sampling program and an Ohio EPA corrosion control study. Your time and assistance will help us demonstrate and ensure that we continue to provide safe drinking water in the City of Troy that meets Ohio EPA standards.
We are looking for participants who meet the following criteria:
- City of Troy resident (within city limits) with water service provided by the City of Troy.
- Home built before 1989.
- Willingness to collect samples at 6-month intervals.
There is no cost to residents for sampling.
The collection process works as follows:
- WTP staff will drop off a sample bottle and paperwork, including instructions.
- The resident will need to fill the bottle after the water hasn’t been used for six hours and will fill out brief documentation about the sample.
- WTP staff will collect a filled bottle and completed paperwork (usually in the morning or after the workday).
- WTP staff will communicate results back to residents.
The results do not require any action by the resident, but will provide information to the resident about the water in their household tap. Sampling is expected to begin in July or August 2026.
