James Edward Stanforth (92)

James Edward Stanforth, 92, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Kettering Memorial Hospital, Dayton, Ohio,   with his family at his bedside.

Jim was born in Lynchburg, Ohio, on April 6, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents Edith (Archer) and Ernest Stanforth and by his grandson, Jason Farthing.

Jim is survived by his wife of 70 years, Carole (Stockmon), daughter Beth (Guy) Moore of Oxford, Ohio, son David (Tiffany) of Carpinteria, California, daughter Sharon (Stanforth) Markel of Green, Ohio; Grandchildren Katy Farthing, Idaho,   Lucas Stanforth, California,  Justin (Katie) Stanforth, Colorado, Ashley Markel Baugus; Great grandchildren Gabriel, Ian and Jackson Baugus, Chloe and James Stanforth; Cousins and their families.

After serving with the Army in Korea, Jim moved his young family to Greenville in 1964, where some might remember him from his early days at Stanforth SuperValue. Later Jim shifted careers to move into the field of life and health insurance. He earned his CLU, ChFC and MDRT credentials and expanded Stanforth and Associates to include financial planning to ease the financial concerns of his clients and their families, who often became his friends.

Jim was a member of the Church of Christ in Lynchburg, Ohio, and attended Faith Baptist Church in Greenville with his family. He was actively involved with the Greenville Rotary Club and the Masonic Lodge in Greenville, Ohio, among others. Jim especially enjoyed serving (and consuming) food at the Darke County Fish and Game Club fish fries.

Private services were held for Jim at the convenience of the family on July 14, 2026.

Burial followed at the Greenville Union Cemetery in Greenville, Ohio.
