GREENVILLE – Fort Greenville Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution recently held an America 250 tea party at the historical Old Factory Warehouse in Greenville, Ohio. There were 85 in attendance wearing their tea party finery. Among those attending were members from the local public and surrounding DAR chapters.
The highlight was the “Fashion Show Through the Ages”. The fashion show commemorated the America 250 theme “past, present and future”. Several state DAR officers/ chairs, including our Ohio State Regent Chris Eberst Nehring, participated as models. Young and old alike were modeling: Colonial, 1812, Pioneer, Civil War, Women’s Suffrage, Annie Oakley, Roaring 20s Gatsby, Rosie the Riveter, 50s Poodle Skirt, Vietnam, Hippie, Valley Girl/Grunge, Covid (yes, toilet paper and mask as props), and the present was an active Army Reservist. Representing our future and the MC for the fashion show was Julie Jones. Julie proudly serves as the Superintendent of Greenville City
Schools.
“The venue was beautiful and the fashion show was entertaining,” expressed by all those in attendance.
Guests enjoyed a variety of food and tea, and each attendee was given an America 250 flag and an America 250 coaster tile. Music was provided by Janie Stewart from Sidney, Ohio playing the dulcimer. Door prizes included beautiful potted flowers, Beanz Buttercream Bakery treats, and America 250 Darke County lapel pins. Grand prizes included a U.S. flag and certificate commemorating America 250 and Patriots Day after being flown over Memorial Continental Hall in Washington DC, as well as Greenville: My Hometown in the Great Darke County, an illustrated book of local sites donated by the Garst Museum.
