Greenville teen identified as victim of May 22 deadly crash

DARKE COUNTY – On May 22, at approximately 7:56 p.m., Darke County Deputies, along with Gettysburg Fire, Gettysburg Rescue, and Greenville Township Rescue, responded to the 6600 block of US 36 for a two‑vehicle injury crash.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a blue Ford Fusion, driven by Jacob Hart (35) of Gettysburg, with front‑seat passenger Ashley Mitchell (33) also of Gettysburg, was traveling westbound on US 36. A white Ford Maverick, driven by Jack Ballard (17) of Greenville, traveled left of center and struck the Fusion head‑on.

Hart was mechanically extracted from the vehicle and transported to Miami Valley Hospital. Mitchell was able to exit the vehicle on her own and was transported to Wayne Hospital. Ballard was also extracted and transported to Miami Valley Hospital.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team assisted at the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
