DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
February 3, 2026 – At approximately 12:51 am, I observed a 2015 Chevy Malibu bearing Indiana temporary registration T803666, parked in the entrance/exit to the parking lot of Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home, 1499 North Broadway, Greenville, Ohio 45331. At the same time, I was dispatched to the Speedway gas station, 201 Wagner Avenue, Greenville, Ohio, in reference to a domestic violence (not in progress) complaint filed by Jamie Saylor.
Saylor informed Greenville Police Department dispatch that she was involved in a domestic dispute with Leroy Brock Crawford and requested an officer escort Saylor to Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home to retrieve her vehicle. Sergeant A. Smith proceeded to respond to Speedway to speak with Saylor, while I approached the Chevy Malibu, which was found to be registered to Saylor.
As I approached Saylor’s vehicle, I observed a male subject, later identified as Leroy Brock Crawford; DOB: 07-09-1991, sleeping in the front passenger seat. Upon making contact with Crawford, Crawford stated he was involved in a verbal dispute with his live-in girlfriend of one year, Jamie Saylor, while they were traveling in the vehicle. During the dispute, Saylor parked the vehicle in Zechar-Bailey’s parking lot, got out of the vehicle and proceeded to walk away.
While speaking with Sgt. Smith, Saylor confirmed she and Crawford were involved in a verbal dispute, but Saylor stated she parked her vehicle because Crawford was attempting to grab the vehicle’s steering wheel. Both subjects stated that the verbal dispute did not escalate to physical violence.
During the investigation, I found Crawford was a fugitive of justice in reference to an active felony arrest warrant for a probation violation from the Darke County Common Pleas Court. Crawford was placed under arrest, the handcuffs were gapped-checked, double-locked and Crawford verbally indicated he was satisfied with the placement of the handcuffs.
During a search of Crawford’s person, incident to arrest, I located a capped syringe, along with a purple sunglass case containing two glass smoking devices with burnt residue, in a front chest pocket on Crawford’s Carhartt coveralls. The syringe and smoking devices were collected as evidence.
I transported Crawford to the Darke County Jail, where Crawford was released to jail staff. The rear passenger seat to cruiser 1937 was checked prior to and after the transport, with no contraband being found.
OVI
January 30, 2026 – At 11:17 PM, I was on routine patrol in a marked Greenville Police cruiser traveling Southbound in the 300 block of Wagner Avenue.
When I was approaching the intersection of Wagner Avenue and East Main Street, I observed a white pickup truck traveling Northbound in the southbound lane on Wagner Avenue from East Main Street, coming head-on towards my cruiser. The pickup truck then went past me. I turned my cruiser around and initiated a traffic stop on the listed vehicle bearing Ohio registration PNE6705, in the 300 block of Wagner Avenue, where the driver stopped his vehicle in the turn lane on Wagner Avenue.
Upon approaching the driver’s side door of the vehicle, I observed the driver, identified as Riley Vanhise. I introduced myself and the reason for the stop. Riley seemed very confused, had glossy, bloodshot eyes and had slow, slurred speech. From my training and experience, I know these signs to be caused by impairment from drugs or alcohol. Riley continually denied driving in the wrong lane of traffic and advised that he was coming home from Bradford to go home. Riley advised that he lives on Laurel Street in Greenville. I advised Riley that he was going the wrong way to get to Laurel Street and he again seemed confused. Riley eventually stated he was going to get food before going home.
I advised Riley that I needed him to step out of the vehicle so I could check to make sure he was safe to drive. Riley was reluctant at first, but then exited the vehicle. I asked Riley if he would submit to standardized field sobriety testing (SFST’ s) and Riley advised he would not submit. I advised Riley to place his hands behind his back and placed handcuffs that were gap checked and double locked. I transported Riley to the Greenville Police Department where he was read the BMV2255.
Once Riley was in the Greenville Police Department, I could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. I asked Riley if he would submit to a breathalyzer test and he advised he would. Riley performed the test and his prohibited blood alcohol concentration was .147. Riley was advised of the results and was advised that he would be issued a citation for OVI and for driving left of center. Riley was also advised that his license was immediately under an administrative license suspension and his license was seized. Riley was provided all the necessary paperwork, was advised of his court date and time and was released to his mother, Cindy Hand.
P. O. Daughtery and P. O. Ward performed an inventory of the vehicle due to it being towed. P. O. Daughtery located an empty can of Coors Light beer on the back floorboard of the vehicle. Riley’s vehicle was towed by Hurd’s Towing to their lot at 1363 Sater Street.
VANDALISM
January 31, 2026 – At approximately 10:50 pm, I was dispatched to 439 East Third Street in reference to vandalism.
Upon arrival, I made contact with Ashli Cunningham. Ashli advised that Steven Karnehm had thrown a gallon of white paint on her father, Brian Deubner’s, truck that was parked in front of the residence. Ashli stated that Steven has been sending her harassing text messages about her sleeping with men. Ashli showed me on of the text messages that Steven stated, “Yeah fuck this. You’re doing your own thing. I’ll sit by my lonely in this dark bathroom and smoke till I get the balls to murder suicide.”
Ashli stated she has never been in any kind of romantic relationship with Steven. She also stated that she feels like she is in danger because of the threats and believes that they are credible. The phone number Steven was texting her from was not saved in her contacts, but she showed me a photograph that Steven sent her using that phone number. I was able to positively identify the subject in the photograph as Steven.
Ashli stated that Steven has been texting her from several different phone numbers. Steven sent several messages stating Fuck your whore enjoy him tonight,” followed by “Thanks for this mental breakdown. All you do is take, take, take and use me, man. I can’t handle it anymore from anybody”, followed by “Promise I’ll go to jail before I leave for Tennessee”.
I observed that the pickup truck had white paint on the windshield and hood, along with a gallon of white paint on the ground near the truck. Ashli called Brian and he responded to the scene. Brian declined to fill out a statement in reference to criminal damage.
Ashli filled out a statement and a victim’s rights form in reference to the threatening text messages. Ashli stated she would send me the screenshots of the text messages by email to be added to this report.
Officers attempted to locate Steven, but they were unable to locate him. Steven is going to be cited with aggravated menacing when located.
On February 1st, 2026, at approximately 5:00 pm, I spoke with Steven’s probation officer, John Tablor, and he advised that he has a meeting with Steven tomorrow at 0730 hours at the Darke County Adult Probation Office. I advised John if we do not locate Steven tonight, we would speak to him then.
Steven called the Greenville Police Department and I spoke with him. I advised Steven that I have a citation for him and that he needed to come to the Greenville Police Department to be served. Steven refused to come to the Greenville Police Department or tell me where he is. Steven told me he would only talk to me with his Probation Officer present during his meeting
WARRANT
February 5, 2026 – I responded to 110 Sixth St., Greenville, in an attempt to locate a known wanted subject.
Upon arrival, I made contact with Jeremy Jones and advised him he had an active warrant for his arrest. Jones’s SSN was run through LEADS/NCIC and it showed he had a probation warrant out of Darke County. Once the warrant was confirmed, Jones was placed into handcuffs that were gap-checked for tightness and double-locked.
Jones was transported to the Darke County jail, where he was left with the on-duty jail staff. The rear of my cruiser was checked before and after transport with no contraband located.
