I know I’ve put my son Jamie‘s name in the news plenty of times lately, but this time it’s a different type of message.
The news this time focuses on his health.
At around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 6, he fell off the end of his bed. I could hear him calling my name and I quickly went to him and found blood around his right eye and a cut on the top of his nose. He was down on bended knee and said he hit the floor but he surely had to hit something else to get the bruising that took over.
There is no doubt about it. I called the Ansonia Rescue.
Jamie assured me it was not an epileptic seizure because he knew what was going on around him that morning.
He began having epileptic seizures three days after his 18th birthday. All of the ones that followed were scary for both of us because we had never had to deal with them before that.
The last time he had a seizure and was taken to the hospital was on Feb. 10, 2019 and how we remember that it was the day his cousin and my nephew, Tom Brumbaugh was going to be taken off of life support after fighting multiple myeloma for 12 years.
Like everyone else, that bothered Jamie. He often talked about the long talk he and Tommy had the night my father and their grandfather, Lee Jr. Moody, died in 2016. Jamie remembers that conversation to this day.
Jamie is a caring person who takes life seriously. That was Jamie’s last seizure and he and I are so thankful for that.
Did I inform you that Jamie has sleep apnea too? My thoughts are that he hasn’t been sleeping well since my brother, Ron, passed away in May this year and that could be the culprit for this recent health upset. I am hoping we can get everything under control with him so those falls don’t keep happening.
In the meantime, he is sporting a black eye, some other bruising and a couple of stitches, but he says he’s feeling better every day.
I am just hoping the incident didn’t affect his eye or vision for the rest of his life. I’m hoping to get more answers.
Now, we just have to go to a few more appointments to get things cleared with Jamie and hope that life gets back to normal.
I don’t like to see my son like this but he’s got faith that God will see him through it.. He said he felt God’s love that morning and is sure things are going to be all right. How can I not be hopeful? Jamie tells it like it is. I’m a believer. I love my son.
