ANNA – Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Marion Local, Versailles was hoping to bounce back against Anna. The Rockets were not having it, scoring on their first two drives to take a 14-0 lead on their way to a 35-7 victory.
Versailles had a glimmer of hope when Ethan Wilker took a quarterback keeper nine yards to the end zone with 8:06 left in the second quarter. The Tigers’ defense could not stop the Rockets as they quickly went back up by 14 with 5:30 left in the first half.
“You gotta give a lot of credit to Anna,” said Versailles Coach Ryan Jones. “They played really well tonight. We didn’t execute very well on either side of the ball.”
The Tigers looked to close the gap, moving from their 30 to the Rockets’ 12, but a penalty and sack gave the ball back to the Rockets.
Anna scored on a 29-yard pass in the third quarter and scored in the fourth quarter on a 13-yard run to end the scoring for the night.
