2 jailed after drug search warrant

PREBLE COUNTY – The Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the Preble County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Paris Police Department executed a narcotics-related search warrant on April 10, 2026, at 6 Shady Lane in New Paris.

This was the result of an ongoing narcotics investigation by detectives into suspected drug trafficking. Methamphetamine and cocaine had been purchased from the suspects.

Detectives located and seized approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, equipment and documents related to the use and trafficking of narcotics.

Two suspects were arrested. Matthew J. Jennings (47) and Tonya Jo Barth (54) both of New Paris, have been formally charged with the following crimes in Eaton Municipal Court: Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a 2nd Degree Felony; Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a 2nd Degree Felony; Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, a 3rd Degree Felony; Trafficking in Cocaine, a 5th Degree Felony; Possession of Cocaine, a 5th Degree Felony; and Illegal Use or Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a 4th Degree misdemeanor

Bond has been set by the court, and both suspects remain in the Preble County Jail.
