2 arrested following stolen vehicle investigation, indictment

PREBLE COUNTY – The Preble County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a stolen vehicle after receiving a tip that the vehicle was at a residence near West Alexandria in mid-June. Deputies located a vehicle on a property that was found to have been stolen from Connersville, Indiana. The vehicle VIN plate and other identifiers had been removed.

The investigation found that the vehicle had been traded to Dustin Brock by Robert Bechtol.

The case was presented to a Grand Jury in August. The grand Jury returned indictments on Robert C. Bechtol (31) of West Alexandria and Dustin B. Brock (47) of West Alexandria, for Receiving Stolen property, a 4th Degree Felony and Criminal Damaging or Endangering, a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor.

Both were arrested on August 5, 2025. Brock faces additional charges as he was found with suspected Fentanyl at the time of arrest.

Both have appeared in Preble County Common Pleas Court for their initial arraignment.

Bond has been set by the court on each defendant at $10,000.00 cash or surety. Both remain in the Preble County Jail.
